How It Works
- Before you go off the grid, enable offline access. This downloads a copy of your site to your device.
- Go about your business and complete any relevant Inspections or Tasks. If you lose connection, offline mode turns on automatically.
- All your work syncs when you're back online.
- After signing in, you will be directed to the Landing Page.
2. Navigate to Settings by tapping the gear icon on the bottom right and then tap "Offline Access."
3. Select your site, then tap 'Download offline version.' A progress bar will appear.
💡Only one site can be downloaded at a time. To use Mapistry offline for another site, remove offline access and repeat this process with a different site.
4. A green check shows you're ready to go. Use the app as normal to complete any relevant Inspections or Tasks.
💡You only have to enable offline access once.
Working in Offline Mode
Don't worry if you lose connection. The offline mode banner will appear, with the date and time of the last sync. Any changes to Inspections or Tasks show as pending.
When you get back to civilization, the app automatically syncs your changes. When the sync is complete, the banner changes from blue to green.
💡Confirm your work has saved by re-opening the app when you're back online.
Working in Forced Offline Mode
If connection in your site area is spotty, the app may slow down as it repeatedly tries to re-connect. Turning on Forced Offline Mode should speed it up because all changes will be batched at once. Think of it as a Mapistry-specific Airplane Mode ✈️
The Forced Offline Mode banner will appear with pending changes.
The app will stay in Forced Offline Mode until you toggle it off or tap 'Sync Manually'. Then changes will sync.
💡 Make sure to sync your forced offline mode changes before closing the app!
Removing Offline Access
Tap the red 'Remove offline access' button to remove the site's data from your device. This can also be used to switch offline mode sites.
💡Make sure to sync any data before removing offline access!
Is there anything you can't do in Offline Mode?
- You can't add or change Logs.
- You can't edit existing Inspections or Tasks. You can only create new Inspections and Tasks, and then edit them within the same Offline Mode session.
Troubleshooting Offline Mode
💡 If you're having issues syncing when connection is restored, try the 'Sync manually' button.
💡 Try re-opening the app to confirm that your changes have been saved.
