Entering Data into the Environmental Data Platform

Data can be uploaded into the Environmental Data Platform either manually or by uploading a file. This guide will walk you through both options.

💡NOTE: Both options are currently only available on the web app.

From the Logs page, click on the log to which you’d like to upload data. In this case, we’ll be uploading data to the ‘Sample Log.’

Uploading Data From A Spreadsheet

💡 Note: To upload a file, you will need a header row. If there isn't one present, the first row of data will be used as a header and will not be included in the uploaded data.

After clicking on ‘Add Log Data’, click on ‘Upload File.’

Here, you’ll be able to upload a spreadsheet containing your log data. The accepted formats are .csv, .tsv, .xls, .xlsx, .xml, and .txt. You’ll then be able to match the fields in your spreadsheet to the fields in Mapistry. If you would like not to upload a specific column, click on ‘Ignore this column.’

💡 To avoid errors in the upload process, make sure that the column names in your spreadsheet match the log fields in Mapistry.

💡 Tip: You can preview what the data will look like on the right by hovering over the different fields.

If there are any unmapped fields, you'll be prompted to map them before you can move to the next step. If you don't want to upload that data, click on 'Do Not Import'

Once you’re satisfied, click on ‘Continue.’ You’ll then be able to see if there are any errors present in your data. If there are errors, they will be highlighted in red next to 'Invalid.'

💡Tip: You can only submit your data once all errors are resolved!
