This week on Coffee and Compliance, we had the opportunity to connect with Keshab Simkhada, an Environmental Manager for Lehigh Hanson. Keshab shared his experience using Mapistry as a tool to support operations and environmental management for over 30 sites in multiple states; through digital inspections, automatic reminders, emails for tasks, and updates on rain events, Keshab’s team is driving environmental excellence and achieving greater efficiency!
As a mining company, Lehigh Hanson works to provide customers with the best quality materials and balance production with environmental regulations. In the last few years, Lehigh has put a bigger emphasis on blending environmental standards with sustainability initiatives.
Digital tools not only help businesses become more sustainable, but create stronger teams and help minimize risk. Keshab spoke about one of his favorite features on the Mapistry platform: tasks. Through task creation, Keshab is able to delegate tasks out to his team, but also to himself; when managing numerous sites, it is critical to have reminders that can capture detailed notes and images.
Lehigh Hanson benefits from a number of other features on the Mapistry platform, including custom logs for wastewater and groundwater. Capturing this type of data is particularly important for generating analytics, which can then track performance on water use and conservation across all of their locations.
By embracing technology and moving into a digital platform, Lehigh Hanson is able to elevate their sustainability initiatives and make a bigger impact on environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG). The outcomes of embracing digitization are good for the people, the business, and also, the environment.
